Deliverables: Editorial Design & Layout, Cover Design, Section Dividers, Custom Infographics, Photo Retouching & Color Grading
Client / Institution: The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA)
Role: Senior Editorial Designer / Layout Artist / Photo Retouching Specialist
Design Concept & Editorial Architecture
A comprehensive ten-year strategic publication for HKAPA, balancing institutional prestige with a refreshed, forward-looking aesthetic. This end-to-end editorial project spans cover design, interior grid layouts, section dividers, custom infographic design, and photo retouching.
-
Revamped Brand Palette Integration: Aligned the publication's visual identity with HKAPA's 2023 refreshed brand identity—utilizing a high-contrast palette anchored by signature deep purple and vibrant energetic orange across typography, section banners, and infographic charts.
-
Dynamic Multi-School Composite Cover: Successfully addressed the brief's requirement to feature students across all six performing arts disciplines (Chinese Opera, Music, Dance, Drama, Film & TV, Theatre Arts). Applied dynamic diagonal geometric masks to interlock monochrome and full-color portraits, achieving a harmonious balance between tradition and vibrant modernity.
-
Structured Editorial Hierarchy & Infographics: Established a clean, multi-column editorial grid for dense policy text. Designed intuitive infographic data layouts, key stat callouts, and elegant dark-mode section divider spreads to guide the reader through complex strategic objectives effortlessly.
-
Comprehensive Photo Retouching: Retouched and color-graded diverse performance photographs from distinct lighting environments, ensuring a unified visual tone and high-density print quality throughout the publication.
